Boutique Beat – Prevues: A Fashion Fetish
Recently, I took a trip to Prevues: A Fashion Fetish in midtown. No I am not stripper or a post-op transsexual – I am a theme party maniac! I have a birthday brunch pajama party to go to this weekend and instead of doing the ho-hum boring sweatshirt and flannel getup, I decided to one-up the hostess and go glamazon. That’s right, I bought a black 2 piece silk and lace vintage nightie for $25 bucks. All I can say is that my only accessory (besides my red feather-toe mules) will be a gold cigarette holder.
Prevues is the best place to go if you need to purchase a costume or have a theme party to attend. The prices can be a bit overboard for the costume, but if you are in need and are willing to lay down the dough you will leave this establishment knowing you will be the best dressed at your shindig.
Prevues stocks its walls with new and used clothes, and they also have a very intense vintage section chock full of furs, dresses, jackets, skirts, slips, shoes and even aprons from the 1940′s and beyond. You want the 80′s? You can like, totally find them here! Prevues has the most glorious prom dresses from the eighties, as well as sunglasses, tights, gloves and jackets (including a sick pleather MJ Thriller jacket!) that will make your day. Their used clothes section is pretty comprehensive and the prices are more reasonable for the less costumesque pieces. The accessories in the round in the center of the store contains every type of fashion accessory you could imagine like belt buckles, bracelets, hair clips, earrings, tiaras and so much more!
One word of warning – all sales are final so be sure to try on your get up before you pay up. And don’t let the wall of stripper shoes and rhinestone body suites scare you off – this store is fabulous in more ways than one.
